The Joys of Energy-Saving Toys
At Rocky Mountain Electric, we can help you with the latest products on the market that will not only be energy-saving, but money-saving products on the market.
PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT
Not only are programmable thermostats convenient, they are a great tool to save you money on heating and cooling costs. In fact, it’s one of the most effective, yet least expensive way to help save money and reduce energy use. Many are controllable when you are away from home as well.
SMART STRIPS
Smart strips protect your electronics from power surges, while allowing outlets to work together. These are handy for devices like the computer or TV, where if you turn your computer or TV on or off, everything that’s plugged into the strip will also turn on or off. These can also be set on a timer. Other types of smart strips can shut down devices not in use, saving energy and life of your device.
CFL LIGHT BULBS
A (CFL) Compact Fluorescent Light bulb uses less energy, will save you money on energy bills over its lifetime, and will usually last at least six times longer than a standard incandescent light bulb. They are available in “dimmable” versions, which may cost a little more, but using the dimmer can save money and lengthen the life of your bulb.

LEDs
Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are considered to be nearly 75% more efficient than traditional incandescent lightbulbs, although until recently, they have been a bit more expensive too. They will generally last about 20 times longer than your standard incandescent bulb. They are also available in “dimmable” versions.
ATTIC FANS
Installing an electric or solar attic fan can save money on your energy bills, and make your home more comfortable. These fans remove heat from your attic and ultimately help your home stay cooler. Homes over 2000 sq. ft. may require one or more additional fans.
CEILING FAN INSTALLATION
Install a ceiling fan to save money on heating and cooling costs. Circulating the room’s air can help cool the room in the summer, and changing the blade direction can help recirculate hot air from near the ceiling in the winter. Some fan styles include lighting that uses LEDs or CFL Light Bulbs.
WHOLE HOUSE ELECTRICAL SAFETY INSPECTION
While we’re checking your home and electrical panel for any electrical fire or safety hazards, we will check all electrical connections and measure voltage. We can also seal any unprotected electrical outlets, and any related gaps, cracks, or holes.
